AIESEC Canada
Exchange Abroad
The most important opportunity which AIESEC offers to students is the chance to participate in our International Traineeship Exchange Program, or ITEP. Our flagship program, ITEP's objective is to promote cultural understanding through international work exchanges.

We are dedicated to helping young people around the globe develop their skills through our exchange program. Through ITEP, students enjoy a unique opportunity to complement their education with a practical business and cultural experience.

As a university student or recent graduate, a traineeship of 8 to 78 weeks in one of 84 countries around the world allows you to develop a broader understanding of cultural, economic, business, and world issues.

Each year 5,000 students, including over 100 Canadians, participate in the International Traineeship Exchange Program.

ITEP Program Details

AIESEC seeks to provide each of its ITEP participants with a holistic experience. This is achieved through AIESEC's unique advantage: a complete, 5-step exchange process.

Selection:
Potential participants submit a resume and are interviewed to ensure suitability as an employee and a Canadian ambassador.

Matching:
Students and employers from around the world complete AIESEC's exchange forms. Participants' forms are then entered into AIESEC's global, on-line database and are matched to internships that best correspond to their abilities and interests. A $400 [partially refundable] fee is paid by all participants to cover administration of services.

Preparation:
Participants are involved in workshops and training sessions to prepare for cross-cultural interaction and adaptation. Involvement with AIESEC at the local level helps to increase the managerial and leadership skills of participants.

Overseas Communication:
To increase involvement in the community while abroad, AIESEC in the foreign country organizes social and cultural activities for trainees. Trainees are encouraged to showcase their culture to AIESEC members, other students, their employer, and other community groups.

Re-integration:
Participants are supported by AIESEC in their reintegration into Canada following their exchange.
